Muhammadiyah High School Launches Digital Literacy Program for Students
July 16, 2025

SMA Muhammadiyah [City] continues to innovate by officially launching a Digital Literacy Program aimed at preparing students to thrive in an increasingly connected world. The program, introduced during a school-wide assembly on Monday, focuses on digital responsibility, internet safety, media analysis, and basic coding skills.
This initiative is part of the school’s broader commitment to 21st-century learning, where students are not only consumers of information but also responsible digital citizens and creators. The curriculum includes workshops on identifying misinformation, practicing safe online behavior, and using digital tools for productivity and learning.
“We believe digital literacy is as essential today as reading and writing,” said Mrs. Lilis Mariani, the Vice Principal of Curriculum. “Our goal is to empower students to use technology wisely, creatively, and ethically—both in school and beyond.”
The first phase of the program includes weekly digital workshops led by certified trainers and interactive sessions involving real-life case studies. Students from all grades will also take part in a “Digital Challenge Week”, where they’ll be tasked with creating educational content, presentations, and short videos using safe digital practices.
Parents have welcomed the move, noting how important it is for young people to understand both the opportunities and risks of the digital world. The school plans to expand the program in collaboration with local tech communities and universities.
